Holiday shopping safety

Tips for making your holidays safe.

The holidays are a time for giving, sharing, cheer and fun. Unfortunately, if you let down your "safety-guard", you could (or may) become a crime victim.

Here are tips to help make the upcoming shopping season safe and happy: These are helpful not only during the holiday season but anytime during the year too!

  1.  Try to take along a friend or family member.
  2. Park in well-lit, well-trafficked areas. Keep valuables out of sight. Lock all doors.
  3. Stay alert and don't allow yourself to be distracted. Stay off your cell phone.
  4. Don't carry large amounts of cash.
  5. Take along one credit or debit card.
  6. Carry your purse close to your body. Never place your purse in a shopping cart. "If at all possible, don't take a purse".
  7. Don't overburden yourself with packages--use a locker or your car trunk to store packages, then move your car to a new spot.
  8. When you return to your car check under the vehicle and then view the backseat, have your keys in hand, get in quickly and immediately lock the doors.
  9. Please do not leave young children unattended in the car.....even for a few minutes.

Make your regular and holiday shopping a happy and safe experience "by taking care".
