Minutes
The meeting was brought to order at 7:10 P.M. with 50 people present.
Veronica explained that the meeting is a difficult one due to the tragic loss in our community - but we can support each other.
The Mission statement was read.
The minutes from the December, 2009 meeting were read by Cathy.
The Treasurer's Report was given.
Veronica welcomed Deputy Cliff Langley, all guest speakers, KW members and visitors.

- Barbara Skudlarick, Whatcom County Support Officer
- Colleen Ingalis, Victim Advocate with Families & Friends Of Missing Persons & Violent Crime Victims
- Allison Dalton – Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services of Whatcom County
- Art Clark - Mt. Baker School District Psycologist/Counsellor
- Rob Bennett – Mt. Baker Junior High School Counselor
The guest speakers gave important information on the aspects of Domestic Violence and the resources available to those caught in these situations. They were able to give the community key behaviors to watch for in someone trapped in this situation, but reminded everyone that no one can be forced out of this kind of life. They have to want to leave. They also acknowledged that victims of domestic violence are not only those directly victimized, but also family members and friends of the perpetrators.
Announcements given by Joyce:
There will be a CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Training Course) starting the end of March, 2010. This will be held on Saturdays. $50 for the course.
A discussion on domestic violence with a candlelight vigil to follow are planned for Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 7 P.M. at Kendall Elementary School.
The guest speakers were thanked for their time in attending our meeting as well as KW members and visitors.Thanks went out to Norma for her great cookies, Pat for making coffee and Norm for putting up the signs.
The next meeting will be Monday, February 8th, 2010 at 7 P.M.
The meeting adjourned at 8:40 P.M. and refreshments were enjoyed.
