2010 - May 10th *KendallWatch Meeting Report

Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:07 P.M., with 22 people in attendance.

The minutes and treasury report were given.

Norma announced a litter patrol for May 22nd 2010.  Bring your two way radios.
She also announced that the final meeting of the Subarea Planning Committee was held the previous week, but their recommendations have yet to go to council.  Planning and Development will be having meetings in June. There are still those who are working to have the UGA removed and it's important for people to continue to participate in the discussion. Please plan on attending the meetings.

  1. Deputy Karb stated: that every deputy has had to take furloughs this year and he has had to work from the Guide Meridian to the Foothills and from the border to Smith Road about 14-15 times so far this year.
  2. The No Shooting Zone is now in place and signs have been posted. It encapsulates the entire UGA, from the school to Limestone, up to Tilbury, and over to Casey Road.
  3. Mental Health assistance is now being provided for those who need it in the county. It is the implementation of a service that was voted on a few years ago.
  4. We've had a few burglaries in the area. Three suspects in one case were arrested, but they are out of jail now.  There was a burglary that occurred while the home owner was sleeping. There are no suspects in this incident at this time.
  5. We are coming into nice weather which means an increase in activity. Remember to trim back your shrubs, make sure your doors are locked, don't leave your garage door open, and put braces in open windows.
  6. There is still a problem with kids on dirt bikes and ATVs.
  7. Jason reminded everyone to please call 9-1-1 before contacting him on his email or voicemail. You may "request contact" which means a deputy will contact you when they respond. Your eyewitness statement may make an incident a criminal matter, which means they can investigate and create a case..
  8. Jason's been working on 11 blight properties. The Cherry Lane property is now totally cleaned up. 5 of the 11 properties have been totally cleaned and 2 are pending. The rest he's had to response on from the land owners. If there is no movement by June he will write up the properties.

The suspicious activity check list from the members packet was gone over to remind members of things they can do to secure their property.

We look forward to the KendallWatch Youth Bike Rodeo which is upcoming next Saturday.

The next meeting of KendallWatch will be in September ... it will be our 7th Anniversary.

Meetings will not be held in June, July or August but should any emergency arise the KendallWatch signs will go up and a special meeting will be held. If it is possible to do so a e-mail notice will be sent out.

Thanks to Pat & Dave for the coffee and to Norm for putting up the signs for the meeting and the bike rodeo.

Refreshments were enjoyed and the raffle prize given.

The meeting adjourned at 8:29 p.m.
